YAWIMÉ:
LAS HUELLAS DE JAVIER Y JOAQUÍN
19 and 35 min | Documentary | México | Jesuitas México | 2024
Two years after the murder of Jesuit priests Javier Campos and Joaquín Mora at the hands of organized crime, the Sierra Tarahumara in northern Mexico is experiencing a superficial peace, caught between official neglect and the quiet fading away of criminal groups following the intense media attention surrounding the case. Yet the region's inhabitants keep the priests' legacy alive and cherish their memory; their presence echoes through the canyons of that harsh landscape, reminding them what they truly were: two more Rarámuri.
